Foundation of Faith

Our Statement of Faith

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men… You are serving the Lord Christ.”Colossians 3:23–24

In Master Han’s words

The World Youn Wha Ryu Association is built on a foundation stronger than any technique or tradition: the Word of God. We unashamedly proclaim that the Bible is the Word of God and that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Our founder, Grandmaster Han, is a follower of Jesus Christ, as is his son, who leads the Association today, along with the leaders who serve beside them. Together we serve to advance the kingdom of God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because we believe there is no greater purpose in life than to know Him and to make Him known.

That conviction shapes everything we teach. The six principles our students recite in every class (Be Patient, Be Polite, Be Alert, Be Brave, Do Your Best, and Respect Yourself & Others) are not slogans borrowed from the culture; as Grandmaster Han has always taught, they have their source in Scripture. In our schools, the kick, the block, and the form are tools for something deeper. We train the body so that God may shape the whole person, spirit, mind, and body, into someone marked by self-control, gracious speech, focus, courage, diligence, and love for others.

Our doors are open to everyone. You do not need to share our faith to train with us, and every student and family is welcomed, honored, and treated with respect, whatever they believe. We simply want you to know who we are and why we do what we do. Our mission is to help everyone become all that God has created, called, and gifted them to be, and our deepest hope is that every person who walks through our doors will come to know the One who gives our training its meaning: Jesus Christ.

Are you feeling led to give your life to Christ?

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV) If your heart is ready, you can pray this prayer right now.

Pray this from your heart

Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I repent of my sins and choose to turn away from them. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins, was raised from the dead, and is alive today. Lord Jesus, come into my heart. I accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. Cleanse me, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and help me live for You from this day forward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9, NIV)
