Lead by serving.
The highest honor at GMHMA isn't a rank you earn for yourself. It's a black belt you help someone else earn.
Every black belt began as someone's white belt.
GMHMA grows one way: one person choosing to serve others, to sacrifice time, attention and expertise to lift those around them up. Every school in our family exists because someone took what they were given and passed it on. That is how one becomes many. A single spark can set thousands of acres ablaze. Be the spark.
“I am not here to promote. I am here to find the next generation of leaders.”
Grandmaster Man H. HanTo our students
On your first day, someone tied your belt and showed you where to stand. They gave their time so you could grow. They shared their love of this martial art with you in a way that was infectious. One day you could be the one who stands in front of a new student and helps them take that first step, passing that love of martial arts along to a new generation.
You don't have to be a black belt to start serving. You only have to be willing. If you love this art and these people, there is a place for you on the teaching floor. There is a student waiting for your guidance.
To our black belts
Your rank tells what you've accomplished for yourself. Your students tell what you've given to others. The Red Stripe honors instructors who have developed another person into a black belt, in full, from the very first day of white belt, giving the guidance, discipline and patience it takes at every step.
An instructor who can do that can plant this art anywhere. Bring a student to black belt, then help them do the same for someone else. Carry the culture of servant leadership that Grand Master Han’s Martial Arts is known for to a new part of the world. That is how our art endures and multiplies, and how the blessings of your training and community pass along to others.
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.2 Timothy 2:2
From student to servant leader
A lifetime journey of growth, leadership and service. The greatest martial artists are not simply those who earn black belts, but those who stay on the path for a lifetime. Each step is a chance to serve more people. Remember: you can only lead others as far as you are willing to keep growing yourself.

Earning a black belt is rare. Leading someone else all the way there is rarer still.
of white belts will ever reach black belt
of those remarkable people will lead another to black belt
white belts will ever reach black belt and then train another person to black belt
The Red Stripe: Servant Leaders
Each of these instructors developed a student into a black belt, in full, from the very first day of white belt. They are listed by the year their first student earned that belt.
We do not point the way. We lead the way.
Leaders do not simply gain knowledge. They pass it on. Someone entrusted this art to you. Here are two ways to entrust it to others.
I want to teach
Teaching creates commitment and gives purpose. When you teach, your training is no longer just about yourself. Every class you assist with and every student you encourage strengthens your own understanding while helping build the future of our organization. Tell us a little about yourself and your school, and we'll help you take your first step.
I want to teachStart a satellite school
Is there a town, church or community center that needs a GMHMA school? Our community grows wherever someone is willing to give and serve rather than be served. If you can develop a black belt, you can build a foundation there that lasts. Let's talk about it, with the whole family behind you.
